Seven Counties Services, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation that provides mental health, chemical dependency/abuse, and developmental disability services and planning in Bullitt, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble counties (in Kentucky). More than 1,100 clinical and administrative staff members provide services to approximately 25,000 persons.

Through a central point of entry, Seven Counties' Access telephone line (502) 589-1100 links persons to behavioral health services at any one of Seven Counties' 40 locations.

Outpatient services in Bullitt, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble counties include treatment for depression, alcohol and other drug abuse, grief counseling, specialized therapy for senior adults, therapy for phobias, and stress reduction. Other services include family therapy, child and adolescent counseling and management of chronic mental disorders. Seven Counties provides counseling and disaster-preparedness information to Bullitt and Spencer counties' tornado and flood victims through Project Rainbow, a program funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The organization offers a wide array of treatment options for children and their families including programs for both the victims and perpetrators of physical and sexual abuse as well as family counseling home-based therapies and educational programs. As part of Bullitt county's community-wide effort to increase child sexual abuse perpetrator convictions, Seven Counties helps child sexual abuse victims cope with the trauma of testifying in courts.

Seven Counties also operates The Crisis and Information Center, a 24-hour telephone crisis counseling and suicide hotline that receives more than 100,000 calls annually at its three numbers (502)589-4313, 1(800)221-0446 and TDD (502)589-4259. The Crisis Center provides the area's most comprehensive information database with more than 3,000 resources. 

Seven Counties' Regional Prevention Center (Louisville) and the Rural Regional Prevention Center (Shelbyville) are dedicated to preventing substance abuse and violence, and promoting healthy lifestyles, The centers and their rural outreach program - partners in Rural Prevention - collaborates with various segments of the community such as social service agencies, parents, teachers, clergy, business leaders, hospitals, local government officials, youth, and senior citizens, that have an interest in substance abuse prevention activities. Prevention efforts in Oldham County include Prom Promise and Project Graduation, programs that help teens stay drug-free.

Persons experiencing chronic chemical dependency problems are referred to Seven Counties' Jefferson Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center (JADAC) for inpatient detoxification, rehabilitation, and intensive inpatient services.


Seven Counties Developmental Services Division serves people of all ages with developmental disabilities. Examples of developmental disabilities include mental retardation, cerebral palsy, or a traumatic brain injury incurred as a child or adolescent. Through the First Steps Program, Seven Counties offers an early intervention program for infants and toddlers with special needs. The division provides day habilitation and supported employment program for adults with developmental delays as well as a wide variety of resources for their family members.
